बेहिसाब ग़मों का फ़साना, है जिंदगी
उन्हें अपनों से छिपाना, है जिंदगी
मेरे मुस्कराने पे न जाओ यारों
कई गम ऐसे भी हैं
जिन्हे खुद को भी न बताना, है जिंदगी

is to find measureless pain,
is to hide it from others, to feign
a smile and somehow still mean
when pain's edge is keen.
